NSCDC Recovers Over 100,000 Litres Of Illegally Refined Diesel In Rivers State

“Over 100,000 litres of illegally refined diesel have been recovered by the Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Rivers State.

Addressing journalists, the Spokesperson of the command, Olufemi Ayodele who displayed the impounded automobiles and merchandise on the Corps Headquarters in Port Harcourt, said that they might intensify the combat in opposition to the unlawful refining of crude oil within the state regardless of the seeming resistance by the perpetrators of the crime.

The merchandise displayed have been hid in plastic baggage, a standard tactic by criminals to beat safety checks.

Ayodele additional revealed that the 103,800 litres of diesel suspected to be illegally refined, have been intercepted whereas being transported in small automobiles and vehicles to completely different areas inside and outdoors Rivers State.

The 14 suspects have been arrested for both transporting the merchandise on land and on waterways or being in possession of aluminium supplies used within the fabrication of Unlawful refineries.

The suspects have been arrested in Obio/Akpor, Ahoada East, Ikwerre, Degema and Port Harcourt Native Authorities Areas.

Two picket boats, 4 vehicles, and 4 automobiles have been additionally impounded throughout the operation. Ayodele added that the suspects will probably be prosecuted in accordance with the regulation.
